A Message From Taylor

My name is Taylor Layner, and I am currently a Head High School Baseball Coach and Head Coach for the nationally recognized Miami Stingrays Fast Pitch Softball Organization.

Taylor’s Story

Taylor played outfield and pitcher at Osceola High School from 2008-2011. Taylor was named player of the year in 2009 and 2011. He was also named to the All-State team in 2011 for pitching, and just recently had my jersey retired in March 2020 at Osceola High. Throughout my high school career, he won over 30 games and struck out over 450 batters in 306 innings during my four years of High School. Taylor was signed to go to Florida State out of High School as both an outfielder and a pitcher but instead decided to go to South Florida State College. While at South Florida State College, Taylor endured two arm surgeries (Shoulder Surgery in 2012 & Tommy John Surgery in 2014). I finished my final two years at Nationally Ranked NAIA Webber International University. I received a Gold Glove for outfield in 2015 at Webber International University. In my Senior year, I was lucky enough to get back on the mound for 82 innings and throw to a 3.2 ERA. I was awarded 1st Team All-Conference as a pitcher and 2nd Team All-Conference for an outfielder At Webber, and I hold the record for doubles in a single season with 20. I finished my college career with a 324 career batting average at the JUCO + NAIA Levels.

My coaching career began at Webber International University until my path was drawn to come back to Pinellas County, FL. After Webber International, I began coaching High School baseball and teaching business education. Both of these things I still do to this day. I am the Head Coach of the Miami Stingrays 16U team in Tampa. We are nationally recognized and sponsored by Demarini. My wife is the owner of the Tampa organization, and it has been an excellent experience for us both!

I have been around baseball and softball my entire life, and my passion is to help young athletes reach their goals on and off of the field. The relationship that we build will go far, and beyond just the hour or two, we spend a week. I will attend games my client’s games and become their biggest supporter.

My wife Amanda and I welcomed our first child into the world on March 25, 2020. His name is Taylor Layner Jr., and everything I do in my life is something for him to be proud of as he grows up. I was taught that good things happen to people who work hard and great things happen to great people. I try to be a role model for young adults.

I look forward to working with your son/daughter, but more than anything, I look forward to building relationships with your families.
